The African Way Coffee Shop is a venture by UCT students (some of them former tenants of The Baobab Student Accommodation) in a novel cooperative ownership model, exploring new, more equitable income distribution models.

We have provided them with a physical space to conduct their enterprise. In return, we get the daily benefit of a barista with an ever-ready smile who makes what must be the best coffee in the city. We work to the sounds of music from all over our continent playing from the coffee shop. They also cater all our meetings and other events, and every tenant of The Baobab Student Accommodation gets a discount voucher from The African Way Coffee Shop as part of their welcome pack when they sign up with us.
